AUSTIN, Texas – With a 9-2 victory in the weekend finale, the No. 1/1 Oklahoma softball team earned a series sweep against No. 11/10 Texas on Saturday afternoon at McCombs Field.

The Sooners (41-2, 12-0 Big 12) have won 31 consecutive games, matching the longest winning streak in program history (previously achieved in 2016).

Oklahoma also earned its 37th straight Big 12 victory, extending a program and conference record. Additionally, OU has won 18 straight games against Texas.

"I thought that we came out ready to fight," OU head coach Patty Gasso said. "Winning the series wasn't good enough for this team – they really wanted to go out and get the sweep.

"This puts us in a good place as we move forward," Gasso continued. "To get in this environment against a tough Texas team – you can feel the rivalry getting back – more than anything, it made us better this weekend. The crowd, the competition, the tough games: they made us a better team."

Grace Green and Jocelyn Alo both homered in the series finale, accounting for Oklahoma's first five runs. The Sooners used a four-run seventh to seal the win.

Green finished with four RBIs, while Alo drove in three. Both tallied two hits along with Sydney Romero and Shay Knighten.

Shannon Saile improved to 9-1 on the year with her second complete-game win of the season. She scattered four hits and surrendered two runs while striking out five.

Oklahoma opened scoring in the top of the second, starting as Alo laced the first hit of the game up the middle. Green then crushed her 13th homer of the season to left field.

The Longhorns responded by scoring once in the bottom of the inning, opening the frame with consecutive doubles from Mary Iakopo and Kaitlyn Washington to bring one run across.

In the fifth, Oklahoma put two runners on base with a fielder's choice and a walk. Jocelyn Alo delivered a no-doubt blast to left-center, good for her eighth homer of the season.

The Sooners scored four runs on four hits in the seventh inning. Grace Lyons led off the frame with a double before Romero tripled to drive her in.

A single from Falepolima Aviu drove in Romero. Caleigh Clifton drew a walk and Alo was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Green, who delivered with a single to right field that plated two.

OU continues its road swing next week, traveling to Wichita, Kan., to face Wichita State on April 24 before heading to Ames, Iowa, for a series at Iowa State April 26-28.
