England cruised to a resounding 8-0 win over Georgia in their opening UEFA Women’s U17 elite round qualifier.

Gemma Grainger’s side sauntered through the first stage of qualifying, defeating Moldova, Azerbaijan and Iceland last September.

And they picked up where they left off with Emma Harries’s first-half double setting the tone for another comfortable victory.

A Gvantsa Kadagishvili own goal extended the Young Lionesses’ advantage before a Melisa Filis penalty made it 4-0 at half-time.

And goals from Fran Stables, Alisha Ware, Eleanor Dale and Rebecca May after the break completed an emphatic result.

England face elite round hosts Hungary on Sunday and then Greece next Wednesday.

The seven elite round group winners will qualify to join hosts Bulgaria in the finals between 5-7 May.
