Hall of shame: Shimla among most filthy towns

Shimla, Mar 8 (UNI) The capital town of Himachal Pradesh, which once featured on 47th rank for sanitation and cleanliness, has plunged down to 128th position earning the dubious distinction of being the most filthy and unclean township of the country.
The survey conducted by the Centre on the national level, shows that the township now figures among the most polluted and filthy townships due to negligence and lack of commitment by the BJP-ruled Shimla MC in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan(SBA).
The town, overflowing with garbage collections, irregular door to door garbage collection, nonfunctional garbage treatment plants and lack of segregation facility of garbage, is considered among the top hill destination in the tourism and failed to figure among the 100 clean cities in the country.
