Luxury vehicle owners asked to get vehicles registered in Goa

Panaji, Sep 21 (UNI) The Transport Department in Goa on Friday asked the owners of the high end luxury vehicles purchased by the locals but registered in other states to get their vehicles registered in Goa within 30 days and has warned of action against those who fail to comply with the direction.
In a notice, Transport Direction Nikhil Desai said,''The Department of Transport has taken cognisance of outstation vehicles plying in the state specially in the category of high end luxury vehicles purchased by local Goan residents, business entrepreneurs and companies based in Goa who have purchased such vehicles and have got the same registered in the Union Territory of Puducherry, Daman and Diu, states like Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand etc as the rate of taxation in theses states is lower than that prevailing in Goa.''
''As per Section 47 of MV Act, where a motor vehicle registered in one state has been moved to another state for a period exceeding 12 months, the owner of such vehicle should apply to the registering authority within whose jurisdiction the vehicle has been kept for assignment of new registration mark,'' he said, adding all the concerned vehicle owners were therefore directed to take note of the provision and comply accordingly within a period of 30 days from date of issue of the notice by approaching the offices of the Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction they were residing and apply for change of address immediately.
