PIB organises Vartalap workshop in Kohima

Kohima, Feb 14 (UNI) The Press Information Bureau, under the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, organized a one-day media workshop, ‘VARTALAP’ at Kohima today.

Nagaland Government Adviser for Information and Public Relation Toshi Wungtung was the Chief Guest at the inaugural function said the media is the eyes and ears of the people and the vehicle to deliver the policies and programmes of the Government. Therefore, Wungtung urged the media to be truthful, factual and complete in creating awareness to the common people and not to compromise in providing quality news. He also asked the media not be content with disseminating information, but to complete the process in the form of follow-ups and feedbacks. Wungtung called on the media to adopt a holistic approach while reporting and focus equally on all aspects. To bring about a positive change, he said the media should monitor the implementations of the various schemes and point out the weakness of the implementing agencies as well as report on the success stories. Stating that the media is a powerful body, Wungtung appealed to the media persons to maintained balance and views should be based on truths and facts
