Baton Rouge walk to raise money for Huntington’s Disease victims

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Huntington’s Disease Society of America is organizing a fundraising walk to support HDSA’s fight to improve the lives of people and their families affected by the disease.

The walk is Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m - 1 p.m. at the Highland Road Community Park.

All donations will go towards the HDSA.

“When we put together our inaugural walk 10 years ago, our intention was to bring awareness to the disease, raise funds toward a cure and improving the lives of those affected by HD, and to make connections to others in our community affected by the disease,” said Beth LaCour, event coordinator. “There have been amazing developments over the years. We are pleased with the progress in research and still hopeful for a cure around the corner.”

The Team Hope Walk program is HDSA’s signature grassroots fundraising campaign that is designed to provide hope and support for those affected by this devastating disease. Since the program’s inception in 2007, it has appeared in over 100 different cities and all proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by HD and their families.

“The connections we have made over the past 10 years are priceless,” Beth explains. “Each year when we gather, I feel like it is a family reunion! And each year we make new connections. The support that we receive from our sponsors and the community is such a blessing to those affected by HD.”
