“I’m not really a dancer, but I like music though,” said Timothy Tift, an Albany resident.

The City of Albany announced on its Facebook page the Marshall Tucker Band is coming to town June 6. And while Timothy Tift said he wont be dancing the night away, he is excited about all of the new entertainment the Civic Center is bringing.

“To try and incorporate all ages, and not just the younger crowd, like middle aged and older people. To mix it up a little bit,” said TIft.

Since the success of shows like Travis Tritt and Three Dog Night, the Albany Civic Center has already been able to book more artists and events.

“And that’s really helped us get some credibility within the industry, and it helps the promoters bring more shows here. And that’s really helped us out and that’s led to some of the shows we’re announcing now,” said Josh Small, the Albany Civic Center’s general manager.

Like the upcoming Hot Wheels Monster Truck Show this Saturday.

But bringing in these artists does more than just provide people in Albany with entertainment.

“We’ve already heard from some people who will be coming in from out of town for the shows,” said Small.

Which brings in money from out of town, as well, putting the city on the music industry’s map.

“We can show promoters that Albany can bring out crowds, sell tickets and they can make money here,” Small said.

The actual Marshall Tucker Band concert itself will be at the Municipal Auditorium, but you can get your tickets at the Albany Civic Center starting at 10 a.m. on Friday.
