August is child support month in Michigan

ALPENA, Mich. — August is child support month in Michigan and the Michigan Child Support Program along with other agencies are working to help families support each other both financially and emotionally.

The program provides services to help mothers, fathers, and guardians obtain financial resources they need for their children.

It also assists with obtaining medical insurance coverage for children as well as collecting and disbursing support payments.

Director of the Michigan Office of Child Support, Erin Frisch, said child support is a key part of the social safety net.

Frisch added that the program can help get children the support they need and deserve during these times.
