Medication take back event features 19 locations in 6 NC counties

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - New Hanover Regional Medical Center partnered with several healthcare centers, law enforcement agencies and other community organizations to orchestrate a medication disposal event Saturday.
The locations were spread throughout New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, Onslow, Bladen and Duplin Counties, and accepted prescription medicines, over the counter drugs and syringes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to a spokesperson with New Hanover Regional Medical Center, almost 40,000 needles and syringes were dropped off, and nearly 4,000 pounds of medications total across all of the sites.
