International blues challenge begins in Memphis this week

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -If you are visiting a music store, restaurant, or music venue in town this week, you may hear some different accents.

Tuesday, Jan. 22 marks the start of the 35th International Blues Challenge in Memphis and will feature over 260 acts from around the globe performing and competing.

The challenge brings in blues performers and aficionados from as far away as Finland all the way to closer to the Mississippi soil, to which blues is rooted.

The IBC is judged by blues music professionals from across the world listening to the performances of bands looking to break out on an International stage.

These are top notch acts competing to be the best of the best, so any show you can attend will likely be one to remember.
