Mother leaves 11-month old at Memphis convenience store

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A mother is in custody after leaving her 11-month-old baby at a convenience store early Saturday morning, Memphis police confirmed.

Police responded to Love’s Travel Stop in the 3300 block of Lamar Avenue shortly after 3 a.m.

Security found the 11-month-old left unattended in the women’s restroom.

Officials were told that the mother went into the restroom with the baby and left the child behind.

The mother was later found at another location.

The baby was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital to get checked out. So far, officials said the baby seems to be OK.

DCS was notified, and the mother was detained. No charges have been filed at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.
