MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The nation’s top basketball prospect, James Wiseman, has already signed with his school of choice, The University of Memphis, but Wiseman isn’t shying away from the recruiting trail as the division one national signing period opens on Wednesday.

Wiseman has his sights set on five-star forwards Trendon Watford and Precious Achiuwa, along with four-star guard Lester Quinones to join him at Memphis this fall.

“I just take it in stride and have fun with it,” Wiseman said about recruiting his peers. “I want to play with the top players in the country. People who make me better. I just try to do whatever I can in my power to go out there and recruit.”

Wiseman will team up with Watford at the Jordan Brand Classic on Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada. Watford was originally scheduled to announce his college decision at the All-Star game, but changed his mind recently, giving Wiseman more time to influence the talented forward.

“Since the game isn’t being televised he’s going to basically further his decision date,” Wiseman said. “I’ve just been on him everyday, calling him, face timing him and messaging him. Precious and Lester, I’m just trying to get everybody to come to this great program that’s about to be formed, and we’re just about to have fun this year."

“We’ve got an NBA legend that’s head coach, and we have a mostly a whole NBA coaching staff with Sam Mitchell and Mike Miller, so you can’t go wrong with that. Learning about the game of basketball is going to take your game to the next level, so why not come to Memphis?”

Wiseman said he plans to train, and study the game after the Jordan Brand Classic to prepare for college basketball this fall.

“I’m trying to learn as a much as possible, and empower myself in terms of my skill level and mentally,” Wiseman said. “I’m ready for it.”
