Granite Staters headed outside Tuesday as temperatures soared into the 60s and even low 70s in parts of New Hampshire.
In Goffstown, people gathered on the patio of the Village Trestle restaurant, enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.
The winter warmup has the state keeping an eye on the possibility of flooding of several rivers, including the Piscataquog in Goffstown, but for now, there are no issues.
In downtown Manchester, people were out with their dogs, and some were even wearing shorts.
“I'm loving the weather,” said Sarah Immone of Raymond. “It's shorts today and tomorrow. I'm going to milk it for all it's worth.”
“The weather it's absolutely amazing,” said Manchester resident Darvin Osaha. “I couldn't even imagine in February it's 58 degrees, and tomorrow is going to be 71 degrees. Yeah, it's fabulous.”
While it was in the 60s in the southern part of the state, Mount Washington saw temperatures in the 40s.
“This is fairly unusual for us on Mount Washington,” said Mike Carmon, senior meteorologist for the Mount Washington Observatory. “Our normal temperature, average temperature this time of year, we should be somewhere maybe between 5 and 6 degrees or something like that, so we're well above normal.”
Tuesday's warmth broke daily and monthly records. If the summit hits 48 degrees, it will be a seasonal high for Mount Washington.
“One of the computer models does have us hitting 48 exactly sometime early tomorrow morning,” Carmon said.
Temperatures are expected to reach 70 degrees Wednesday.
