MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery fire officials have determined the cause of a garage fire in the Cloverdale-Idlewild neighborhood Thursday night.

According to Capt. Jason Cups, fire investigators say the two-story garage fire was the result of a lightning strike from Thursday’s storms.

The fire happened in the 600 block of Ponce de Leon Avenue. When firefighters arrived at the home, smoke and flames could be seen coming from the structure.

MFR’s Facebook post says firefighters were forced to use a defensive attack because of the number of items inside the detached garage.

MFR says that no one was injured in the fire.
