The Eagles offense has not topped 20 points in either of the last two games. Coming off of the team's 38-20 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, they could certainly use some help to turn the season around and break out of the funk they are in on offense.
Whether that help is coming next Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys remains to be seen.
Speaking on Monday morning to Angelo Cataldi on the 94WIP Morning Show, Pederson would not committ to receiver DeSean Jackson playing against Dallas, but he did sound hopeful it could happen.
"He has been running. He has been running on land, we have had him in the pool...He is feeling good," Pederson said. "I am going to meet with the medical team in a little bit, and have more of an update at the noon press conference. But he is getting close and we are hopeful. I can't promise anything, but we are hopeful he can return this week."
Later, during his press conference with the media, Pederson called Jackson "day to day."
Jackson has been sidelined with an abdomen injury for the last five games outside of a few snaps in Week 2 vs. the Atlanta Falcons. Jackson has been rehabbing hard to come back for the team's matchup vs. Dallas, although reports indicate he could still be a few weeks away from returning.
In one game with Jackson on the field for the Eagles this season, the passing attack was every bit the big-play, dynamic offense many predicted. Jackson, in is only action of the season, totaled eight catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1. The offense had a season-high 313 passing yards, a season high 436 total yards and finished with 32 points.
To say the passing attack has struggled without him would be an understatement, as they have not topped 200 yards passing in either of the last two games prior to the loss to the Vikings and have struggled to get anything going down the field since Week 1.
The Eagles are entering a must-win game against the Cowboys next Sunday, with a trip to Buffalo up after that. At 3-3, how they emerge out of these next two games will play a large role in determining how the rest of their season plays out.
