Jefferson City boy killed in Cole County crash

COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 12-year-old Jefferson City boy was killed in a crash at a Highway 50 intersection in Cole County on Wednesday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened at about 10 a.m. at Route D and westbound Highway 50 outside St. Martins. The boy was riding in a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by Jason Fox, 48, of Jefferson City, the patrol reported.

Fox failed to yield at the intersection and the Corolla was hit by a Ford F-250 and pushed into a guardrail and off the road, the report said. Fox and the boy were taken to St. Mary's Hospital by ambulance, where the boy was pronounced dead. Fox had moderate injuries, the patrol said.

The truck's driver -- Shelby Alford, 22, of Jefferson City -- had only minor injuries and was not treated. Her passenger -- Brad Arlen, 17, of Morrison, Missouri -- was not hurt, according to the patrol.
