Man shot, killed in east Columbus during fight

Columbus Police have identified the victim killed during a dispute in east Columbus.

Officers were called to a reported shooting at 1223 Berwick Arms Place just before 5:40 p.m. on Thursday and found 29-year-old Christopher Catching suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medics later pronounced Catching dead at 5:45 p.m.

No suspect information has been released at this time. Police said its initial investigation revealed that Catching and an unidentified man were in the middle of a dispute when the shooting occurred.

Catching allegedly went to the area to confront the man and the suspect then shot and killed him.

Police say this is the 80th Homicide in Columbus in 2020.
