1 person killed in shooting in northeast Columbus

A gun battle in the parking lot of an apartment complex left one man dead and police searching for the other person doing the shooting. It all happened in broad daylight Monday afternoon on Solera Dr.

Columbus Police the man who was shot and killed as Curtis Davis. He was taken to Riverside Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was 41.

Police said a maintenance worker found Davis wounded in his apartment after gunshots rang out.

Neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots. One mother who lives across the parking lot from the gunplay said a slug went through a couple of her walls, just missing her as she worked in the kitchen.

“I saw the bullet come in right here and bust this hole,” said Hawanatu Kondeh. She said the bullet just missed her as she stood at the sink.

“I would have been dead,” Kondeh said. She has three young children, including a week-old baby. None were injured.

Police said this is the 76th homicide in Columbus in 2020.
