133 new COVID-19 cases reported in South Carolina; total cases over 8,000

There are 8,030 total COVID-19 cases in South Carolina as of Wednesday, according to data released to emergency managers by the South Carolina Dept. Health and Environmental Control.

Officials reported 133 new cases in the Palmetto State. DHEC said 362 people have died from virus-related complications in SC, reporting 7 additional deaths on Wednesday.

Five of those deaths occurred in elderly individuals in Clarendon (2), Florence (1), Lexington (1), and Richland (1) counties, and two of the deaths occurred in a middle-aged individual in Greenville (1) and Marion (1) Counties.

DHEC estimates over 4,000 people have recovered from coronavirus as of May 13.

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce sent a survey to small business owners, some owners saying safety was their number one concern when it came to reopening.
