Civil Rights hero Elizabeth Eckford, one of the nine black students who desegregated Little Rock Central High School in 1957, will speak at the Statehouse Convention Center next Wednesday as part of the Clinton School speaker series.
Eckford, along with other members of the Little Rock Nine, received a a Congressional Gold Medal at a White House ceremony in 1999. Her 2018 book, “The Worst First Day: Bullied While Desegregating Central High” recounts her experiences.
The event, in partnership with the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators, will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Jan. 29 at the Wally Allen Ballroom.
