Buckhead hotel rebranded as ‘boutique’ lodging option set to open this fall

Buckhead’s Wingate by Wyndham hotel is undergoing a $15 million makeover that will reposition it as The Burgess Hotel, which project leaders are calling the district’s “first boutique hotel.”

It seems the exterior of the 3600 Piedmont Road building won’t be changing much, save for some signage updates, but the interior is primed to welcome a chef-driven restaurant concept, bar, and “elevated amenities,” according to a press release.

The renovation, led by interior design firm Duncan Miller Ullman, will create 102 upscale rooms, seven suites “inspired by international destinations,” and a themed penthouse unit.

The update also promises custom furniture, work by local artists, and “found objects from Asia and beyond.”

The rebranded and upgraded hotel is on track to open this fall.

Once complete, The Burgess Hotel, created through a partnership of Burges and Freny Jokhi and Apicii Hospitality, is expected to feature food and beverage concepts FIA, Woodfire Grill, and Mr. B. Bar.

The Burgess, of course, is not the first luxury hotel in town created from the bones of another.

In December, for instance, Buckhead’s Mandarin Oriental hotel became the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta.

Ditto for the former Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead, which was rechristened The Whitley in 2017 and has since undergone a multi-million-dollar update.
