Mixed-use hotel project set to continue Alpharetta’s downtown expansion

The expansion of Alpharetta’s historic district with new construction shows few signs of abating.

A swanky boutique hotel is now on the rise in the North Fulton city, just over a mile west of mini-city Avalon, project officials announced Monday.

Sited at 21 Milton Avenue, just off Old Milton Parkway, “The Hamilton,” a Curio Collection hotel by Hilton, is set to be delivered by Mayfair Street Partners and Hotel Equities.

The project promises 119 luxury rooms topping—among other food and retail options—the 1858 Public House restaurant and bar, following in Avalon’s mixed-use footsteps that have set the standard for new development in the area.

It’s the latest endeavor in the area that aims to establish Alpharetta as more than just another metro Atlanta suburb.

The Hamilton, designed to bring a sophisticated aesthetic to the evolving community, is also expected to house a venue for weddings, meetings, and other events, as well as an “authentic speakeasy bar and social club,” per a press release.

A construction timeline wasn’t specified.

Interior designs “will highlight the historical significance of the hotel’s location, while emphasizing today’s modern, progressive and forward-thinking community ideals,” the release states.

The project site is where Alpharetta’s historic Cotton House once stood.

Another high-end hotel concept called the Cotton House Hotel, which also would have featured classical architecture, was proposed there by Mayfair Street Partners a couple years ago.

Earlier this year, InterContinental Hotels Group delivered the Even Hotels Alpharetta-Avalon Area, a wellness-centric lodging option catering to the traveling fitness buff—a first for the metro Atlanta market.

Around the corner from the Hamilton’s construction site, the new Jekyll Brewing recently opened for business, offering locally brewed beer and Southern dishes, Eater Atlanta reported.
