Bogartz Food Artz, owned by Knoxville chef Bruce Bogartz and his brother, Scott, closed this week after less than two years at the City Walk center in Sandy Springs. The brothers made the announcement in an email, which they also posted to Facebook Thursday morning. It appears the restaurant is another financial casualty of the pandemic.

The Bogartz brothers opened the Southern-Cajun “meat and three” in November 2018, replacing Tin Can Fish House at the complex. The 60-seat restaurant is now listed for sale with the Shumacher Group for $99,000.

“The pandemic did us in. Sales were strong and getting stronger in Q4 2019 and Q1 2020. February was 90k in sales,” Scott Bogartz writes in an email to Eater Atlanta. “The final decision was made because I had exhausted every option I had to stay afloat [to] make it to the other side of this crisis. With our great customers and great reputation, it felt like we had a chance to emerge stronger. Unfortunately, I ran out of runway.”

Earlier this month, the owner of Sweet Auburn Seafood announced he was closing the popular Southern seafood restaurant on Auburn Avenue after struggling with financial losses caused by the pandemic and recent “violence in the area.” Third Street Goods and adjoining cocktail bar Cardinal are closing at the Beacon complex in Grant Park. Owner and bartender Kathryn DiMenichi said the market’s last day will likely be Saturday, August 15. Cardinal never reopened after closing in mid-March due to the health crisis.

Update, August 13, 7:40 p.m.: This story has been updated with comments from Scott Bogartz.
