Legendary late Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry is held in almost unfathomable reverence in Big D, but many of the faithful might not know of his not-insubstantial—even eternal—presence in the Capital City. While he is buried in Dallas, for instance, he is memorialized (for his WWII service) in the Texas State Cemetery in East Austin, his grave marked by a tombstone engraved with his trademark fedora.

Landry also owned a home in the gated Hills community near Lakeway, the established luxury destination of many a flush, retired Dallasite on Lake Travis in northwest Travis County. His former home—a one-story, Spanish/Italiante-style set of structures surrounding a courtyard, is on the market.

Once the site of a design faceoff that sounds as epic as the Ice Bowl, the 3,938-square-foot home now rests peacefully in its Hill Country setting, overlooking a waterfall and the 18th green of a golf course. It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and features a number of updates (including a modern bathroom that was the site of the aforementioned style scuffle).

Built in 1983, the stucco home also features vaulted and beamed ceilings, a fireplace, a library, and a pool, covered deck, and fire pit in the courtyard.
