Out of all the potential pizzerias that could open in downtown Austin, it’s a location of pizza chain Domino’s. The 311 West 5th Street restaurant is taking over the space vacated by upscale downtown cafe and travel agency Departure Lounge right next to Republic Square Park. It’s currently scheduled to open before the end of the year, tentatively the day after Christmas on Wednesday, December 26.

A key component to the downtown Domino’s is the fact that it will include electric bicycle delivery, instead of cars. A large portion of the West 5th space is dedicated to the bike garage. The delivery area will span for ten blocks, from I-35 to Lamar Boulevard and the Colorado River to 11th Street.

Domino’s Austin franchisee Mark Marshall wanted to open a downtown location because it had been tricky getting to the neighborhood for deliveries. Marshall already operates several Domino’s locations in Austin since 1996.

Along with delivery, the downtown Domino’s will include carry-out and dine-in options. There will be three four-top booths, and additional seating might be added later.

The menu will be the same as the usual Domino’s menu: from all sorts of pizza, chicken and chicken wings, sandwiches, pasta, pieces of bread (cheesy, garlic), to desserts. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.
