Downtown hot dog restaurant and bar Frank is closed again because of unpaid taxes, as noted by an eagle-eyed tipster and confirmed by Eater. There is a notice on the 407 Colorado Street restaurant’s locked doors stating that “this property has been seized for nonpayment of taxes owed the State of Texas” by the Comptroller of Public Accounts dated on Monday, September 24.

The restaurant had aimed on reopening on Tuesday, October 2, according to a Facebook message from Frank. It referred to its forced shutter as a “temporary hiccup.” Unfortunately, it is still closed.

It also looks like the Frank location on the Drag at Space 24 Twenty on 2420 Guadalupe Street is currently closed as well. It never reopened after its summer hiatus, as confirmed by an Urban Outfitters staffer.

This is the second time that the original location of Frank has closed because of unpaid taxes. The first time occurred earlier this February. The owners told Austin 360 at the time that it was a result of a tax burden from its then-San Antonio restaurant which closed in January. The downtown restaurant reopened two weeks later.
