Fast-Casual Chain’s “Austin” Revamp
Austin-born fast-sandwich chain Schlotzsky’s is actually converting all of its restaurants to fit its whole Austin-inspired millennial-friendly (yes) revamp over the next three months. Dubbed Schlotzsky’s Austin Eatery, the overhaul debuted in Georgia, and then expanded to the Bee Cave restaurant in March 2018. This means a newer menu of “street foods” like tacos, sliders, etc., plus beer and wine in certain restaurants.

Bastrop Food Truck Courts
Bastrop might soon feature food trucks and food truck courts like Austin starting in May, if the city council approves of the new pilot program this week.

Austin-Born Restaurant Named One of Best in Country
Chicago restaurant Kyoten from chef Otto Phan (not to be confused with his Austin restaurant of the nearly same name Kyoten Sushiko) was named as one of magazine GQ’s best new restaurants of the year. Phan moved to Chicago from Austin to open the new omakase restaurant because he wanted to earn Michelin stars. The Austin restaurant will reopen under chef Sarah Cook, who has been training with Phan in Chicago, sometime this May.
