Allandale Southern Asian restaurant the Peached Tortilla is expanding with a slider-dedicated pop-up this week. Fat City will make its debut at dog park and restaurant neighbor Yard Bar at 6700 Burnet Road on Friday and Saturday, August 7 and 8.

Fat City’s menu, inspired by White Castle and Georgia-based fast-food Krystal, focuses on sliders. Dubbed “fat stacks,” the sliders come with either beef or chicken, plus cheese and pickles. There are also chicken fingers, crinkle fries, and tater tots. Additional sauces can be ordered as well, including sriracha ketchup, togarashi ranch, and Buffalo hot sauce.

Single sliders are available, as well as orders of three sliders with a side of tater tots or crinkle fries (referred to as “sacks”) and the large family-sized meal with 12 sliders, both fries and tots, and two sauces.

For dessert, there are “fatties,” which are Twinkie-esque sponge cakes filled with cream, available in chocolate or marshmallow flavors. Drinks-wise, Fat City will offer root beer and dreamsicle floats, and cocktails, beer, and wine from host site Yard Bar will also be available.

Fat City customers will order at Yard Bar’s window for to-go or dine-in service (no online or advanced ordering systems). For the latter, diners will be given a number and then sit at a table, and the meal will be dropped off by a server. COVID-19 mitigation measures are being implemented, including QR code menus and social distancing requirements.

Because of a break-in at Yard Bar on Thursday evening, Fat City’s pop-up will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, ending at 9 p.m. Saturday’s pop-up will take place from noon to 9 p.m.

During this time, Yard Bar remains open for members of the dog park service, complete with a separate check-in window.

Peached Tortilla founder and owner Eric Silverstein wanted to expand with this type of pop-up because he needed to “adapt to the changing market, cater to the community’s current needs, and keep staff employed,” as explained in a press release.

After this week, Fat City will take place at various locations around the city, making use of Peached Tortilla’s food truck.

Update, August 7, 10:24 a.m.: This article, published on August 5, has been updated to reflect Fat City’s new hours.
