A Colombian woman fell to her death in an apartment complex in Jeevan Bheema Nagar police station limits in EastBengaluru on Sunday. Police say she was under the influence of alcohol and may have accidentally fallen from her apartment in the small hours of Sunday.
Karen Daniela, 25, was a resident of Wild Flower Hall apartments on Rustam Bagh Main Road of Old Madras Road for the past year. According to preliminary investigations, Daniela fell from the balcony of her duplex flat on the second floor around 3 am. She sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.
Maria told the police that she heard a loud thud and rushed to the balcony to check. Maria found Daniela in a pool of blood and she immediately raised an alarm. The security staff and other residents of the apartment rushed to the spot to find Daniela dead.
The Jeevan Bheema Nagar police reached the spot and shifted the body to the mortuary in Bowring Hospital. We have informed the Colombian embassy about Daniela’s death. The post-mortem will be conducted once the embassy officials give the go-ahead.
Daniela was working as a Danish-English translator at a private firm inIndiranagar , while her friend Maria works as a French teacher in a private school. Both Daniela and Maria had been to a Christmas party at a house in Whitefield where all the Colombians living in Bengaluru had gathered. “They shared information about the party in their WhatsApp group of Latin Americans and Colombians.
Daniela and Maria returned to their apartment around 2.30 am. Daniela went to the terrace from their duplex flat while Maria remained in the hall. We don’t know how she lost the balance or how exactly she fell from the terrace, why she went there, but she has fallen directly on the ground and died. We have taken up the case of unnatural death and the facts will come to light after further investigation,” an investigating officer said.
