Karnataka COVID-19 Tracker: State reports 26 new cases on Saturday; 12 from Bengaluru itself

Bengaluru: Karnataka recorded 36 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday, out of which 12 are were from Bengaluru itself.
With this, the state tally went up to 789, including 30 casualties. 379 people have been cured and discharged until now, as per the state health department.
Of the 12 Bengaluru victims, 11 are contacts of previously infected patients of the state. The remaining one has been traced back as a contact of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) containment zone in ward number 135.

Besides, Devanagere, which has emerged as a new cluster in the state, reported six new cases on Saturday. Dr K Sudhakar,COVID-19 in-charge minister for Karnataka along with his team arrived in Davanagere district in the morning to take stock of the situation there.
There have been more than 40 cases in one single cluster in Davanagere district after a man travelled from Kalaburagi to Davanagere in the month of April.
Apart from these, seven people have been infected with the contagious virus in the Bhatkal region of Uttara Kannada, three in Bidar, three in Bantawal town of Dakshina Kannada, three in Chitradurga, one in Vijayapura and one in Tumkuru.
In the meantime, Karnataka has conducted over one lakh tests in the state as of Saturday. Dr K Sudhakar said, "Our fight against Corona will continue with more zeal. We are boosting our testing capacity to have 60 labs by the end of this month and will be able to conduct 10,000 tests per day."
