The Covid-19 cases in Karnataka seem to be growing as rapidly as the neighbouring states. On Friday, the State recorded 515 new cases, the highest so far.

Out of 515 cases reported in Karnataka today, 471 are returnees from Maharashtra.

Udupi continued to account for the majority of the cases, with 204 cases reported in the evening bulletin, taking the total tally to 768 in Udupi, followed by Kalaburgi (total 552) with an addition of 42 cases. Yadgir which is seeing a huge influx of returnees from other states added 74 cases on Friday followed by Vijayapura 53, Bidar 39 and Belagavi 36.

With this, Karnataka's total has reached 4,835, while 13 patients are in ICU including one on ventilator support. Out of 4,835 Covid-19 cases reported in the state, 3,032 are returnees from Maharashtra and 1,004 from contacts.

On the positive side, 83 patients were discharged on Friday with 32 in Hassan, 13 in Mandya, nine each in Bengaluru and Gadag, six in Davanagere and three in Chikkamagaluru.


Meanwhile, Bengaluru city reported 10 new cases (three patients who had returned from Delhi, one each from Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, three patients who were contacts of P 2834 and a contact of P 2894) and a foreign returnee (Indonesia), while 11 returnees from Maharashtra and one from Andhra Pradesh tested positive in Bengaluru Rural.
