Metro ridership hits record high, with many commuters choosing it to dodge traffic

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has hit a new high. To escape the traffic woes, more and more Bengalureans are opting for Namma Metro. The Metro ridership has increased yet again and has set a new record. In the month of July, Metro had 1,24,00,510 commuters. The figures have significantly gone up from June, when the ridership was approximately 1.17 crore. BMRCL officials also confirmed that 1.24 crore is the highest ridership numbers so far. The monthly revenue earned has also gone up to Rs 33,47,71,862.

Experts believe that the ongoing monsoons is the reason why commuters are shifting to Metro since it is the most reliable and comfortable mode of transport. BMRCL had previously recorded its highest ridership in May, with 1.18 crore riders.
