New train to Goa to be operational from today

Train No. 06551/06552 (Karwar - Vasco Da Gama Express daily service) will be running from March 8. It departs from Yeshwanthpur at 6.45pm and arrives in Vasco-da-Gama at 10.30 am. The train is scheduled to return from Goa at 4.30 pm and reach Bengaluru at 9 am. The services on the 83-km journey passes via Hasan, Padil (Mangaluru), Udupi, Kumta and Karwar.

The train proposed for cancellation includes: Bengaluru City and Karwar via Mysuru) tri-weekly express (No. 16523-16524) and Bengaluru City - Karwar via Shravanabelagola (No. 16513/ 16514). The South Western Railway (SWR) will, instead, run a 15-coach train to Kannur from Bengaluru (Train No. 16511/16512 and 16517/ 16518), one via Mysore and another through Shravanabelagola and Kunigal.
The re-packaging of several trains is expected to benefit commuters travelling beyond Udupi as it offers a fastest commute between Goa and Bengaluru.
The SWR, however, has deprived cities such as Mysore, Hassan, Ramanagar and Channapatna of a daily service to Mangalore and Karwar.
