Michael was a fourth grader at Lockwood Intermediate School where he excelled at many subjects, especially math. He always scored highly in leadership as well. If asked though, his favorite part of school was getting to see his best buddies. He was proud of his perfect attendance and was so disappointed the first time his mom said he was too sick to go. Michael loved to read, draw, play video games, ride bikes, swim, work with tools, snuggle with his kitties, run with his cousins and spend quality time with his immediate family, whether it was a local adventure or on the road. Art time with mom, science experiments with his bro, learning to bake with dad, hanging out with his sis, and play dates and sleepovers with his friends were special to him. Michael also looked forward to movie night (popcorn required) with the family, adventures in nature, enjoying all the good food according to Michael, and so much more. He had a zest for life that was contagious and brought humor and wit that was beyond his years. He shocked many with his extensive vocabulary and knowledge. He was caring and generous and loved by many. The family finds comfort in knowing that Michael will continue giving through his organ donation. His short life was jam packed with adventures and experiences. We are so lucky to have these memories that will be cherished forever. Thank you, sweet boy, for the time we had together.
Services will be held Friday, April 26, 2019, 4 p.m. at Heights Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 733 West Wicks Lane, Billings, MT 59101 followed by a Celebration of Life at Lockwood Middle School Commons, 1932 Hwy 87 East, Billings, MT 59101. Please wear tie dye or superheroes shirts, because Michael would dig that. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private burial at a later date. In lieu of cut flowers the family asks that you send perennials that can be planted later or donate to the Lockwood Pedestrian Safety District that is working to construct a pathway that connects and promotes safety for all within the Lockwood community.
John and Elizabeth want to thank the Lockwood Fire Department for their heroic efforts and the staff of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at St. Vincent’s Hospital for their compassion, support and willingness to communicate even as they continued to care for Michael after his tragic accident.
