CHICAGO — Waves could get as high as 6 feet at the city’s beaches Friday.

The National Weather Service warned there will be dangerous swim conditions at lakefront beaches in the city, with waves hitting 3-6 feet tall and life-threatening currents. The dangerous conditions could extend into Saturday.

“Heed signs and do not go into the water!” the National Weather Service tweeted.

The Chicago Park District had a swim ban in place at every city beach as of 8:30 a.m. Friday. Updates for the beaches are available online.
