Traveling German food, culture fest making free Albany stop

A Northeast tour of German food and beverages called A Taste of Germany, sponsored by the German American Chamber of Commerce in New York City, will make a stop in Albany from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 26, at The German-American Club of Albany, 32 Cherry St.

The free event will offer tastings of food and beverage including cheeses, meats, signature gingerbreads and many more from about 10 companies.

The tour, which also will visit Bethlehem and Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and Buffalo and Rochester in New York, is part of the “Wunderbar Together campaign,” also known as “Deutschlandjahr,” which, according to promotional material, focuses

on intensifying the transatlantic dialogue, international exchange and cooperation between people and cultures, with the aim of establishing and expanding networks. It is intended to demonstrate the areas in which Germany and the host country USA complement one another as partners and can work towards resolving important future tasks.

Admission is free and open to the public, but registration is required; go here
