Mexican Market in Albany adds Madison Avenue restaurant sibling

Mexican Market, a grocery and cafe at 654 Central Ave., Albany, that has unfortunately been largely hidden by a BusPlus shelter for almost all of its decade in business, on Friday (7/31) opened a sibling restaurant, Mexican Taqueria, at 858 Madison Ave., also in Albany. It replaces a spot called Asian Place.

Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight daily. Owner Manny SantaCruz tells me the taqueria’s menu is largely the same as at the market, with the restaurant having a few more items. It does not have its own online presence yet, and the phone is not yet operational; browse the market’s Grubhub page, or seen below, for an overview of what’s available at the taqueria. (Note that the phone number on the sign below below is for the market.) SantaCruz tells me he hopes to have online ordering for delivery and pickup for the restaurant in the coming weeks from Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats, but for now ordering is in person.
