Meadery being developed in historic Albany spot

The Bull and Bee, a meadery and tasting room, is being developed for opening late this year at 140 Hamilton St. in Albany, which was home to the Italian restaurant Bulgaro’s for more than 50 years until it closed in the 1980s.

The owner is serial entrepreneur William “Tragedy” Yager, of Patsy’s Barber Shop, Shocker Tattoo, etc., fame. It will be run by Yager’s longtime associate Dan Dineen. The pair tell me they have finished their first batch of mead and are beginning the second as they wait for a permanent liquor license and continue building out the space. They hope to open in time for the holidays. Yager tells me the tasting room will feature Bull and Bee’s meads  and other locally made mead, and all manner of other New York-made craft beverages.

The future Bull and Bee meadery and tasting room sits down the hill from the Empire State Plaza and the East Garage parking structure in Albany. (Provided photo.)
