Intuit to nearly double local employees with campus expansion

Intuit, which purchased TSheets in late 2017, is doubling down on Idaho – literally.

The company will build a second building and nearly double its employee count in Eagle.

“We are expanding because Boise is an amazing place to live and an amazing place to work,” Intuit’s VP and Boise site leader J.D. Mullin said. “Intuit purchased us a year and a half ago and has a growth mindset.”

The second building will go up adjacent to the first on East Colchester Drive in Eagle. TSheets opened its first building in March of 2017 before the acquisition by Intuit. About 470 employees currently occupy all of the 65,000 square foot building. The additional space will allow the employee count to grow to 900.

The new building will share a similar design to the first, and sit to the southeast on the site. A new Luxe Reel Theater should open next month, and a variety of retail and restaurants popped up along Eagle Rd. on the site in recent months and years.

Intuit Boise growing on the ‘westside’

The second building grows Intuit Boise’s presence at Hawkins Companies’ The Bridges at Lakemoor development. Intuit issued an RFP and evaluated other sites in the area, but decided to stay put in Eagle.

“We’ve always loved the westside. We are proud of being an Eagle company – our roots are here, our employees are here,” Mullin said. “A lot of people do not want to drive downtown to go to work. The culture here – there’s a vibe here. It’s a beautiful building and a beautiful complex.”

Employees at the site now support Intuit products beyond TSheets, and the additional workers will serve multiple initiatives.

“Intuit wants to have a presence in multiple locations and not being centered on the Bay,” he said. “We have a strong team that has a proven track record of building products here.”

The additional jobs will cut across a number of categories, from entry-level positions to sales, marketing, research, design and data.

“It’s a healthy mix,” Mullin said. “It’s not 400 out of school call center jobs. We invest in people and work to develop them. Will hire people who don’t have degrees but who are great reps and spend money to invest in them.”

Both existing and new employees will benefit from increased amenities. And Mullin said the increased number of employees will have an impact on the Treasure Valley community.

“With Intuit give back, each employee gets a week of paid time off to donate to a charity,” he said. “Having 900 Intuit employees is going to have a huge impact in a positive way.”

Intuit Boise expects to open the building late in 2020.
