Miller Family Real Estate, an arm of the Larry H. Miller car dealerships, plans to develop a piece of land next to Boise Subaru.
The Salt Lake City-based firm asked the City of Boise to build Boise Towns on an empty piece of land at Fairview Ave. and Steelwood Ave.
“The intent of the site is to create quality new housing that can provide a transition between the existing low-density residential area to the north and northwest and the commercial areas to the south and southwest,” Eric Malberg from Anderson Wahlen & Associates wrote in an application letter.
Miller Family proposes a total of 38 townhomes on the site. The units would sit in a series of seven two-and-three story buildings. The application asks to subdivide the property, which indicates the townhomes would be sold rather than rented.
Each townhome would include garaged parking on the ground level, plus 19 guest parking spots.
The site plan calls for the townhomes to wrap around an existing overflow parking lot for the Subaru dealership. Along Fairview, two commercial sites would provide for future retail. Just last month, Starbucks applied to build a new coffee drive-thru at this same intersection.
For the townhomes, amenities include a playground and community pavilion on the north portion of the site.
The project will need the City of Boise’s OK to subdivide the property, and a planned unit development permit. No hearing dates set, just yet. The developer hopes to start work on Boise Towns in spring of 2020, and wrap up in spring 2021.
