Crews to tear down farmhouse & barn for small subdivision

Demolition crews applied to tear down a 120-year-old house and barn on Cloverdale Rd. In its place, the landowner hopes to build an infill subdivision.

Crimson Real Estate LLC purchased the land at 3976 N. Cloverdale Rd. in 2019 from the estate Steven Nelson after his death. The home on the property first went up in 1900 according to records from the Ada County Assessor. The two-story house stands at 1,860 square feet, set back on a 2.25-acre piece of land.

The demolition application calls for the removal of the home, a barn, outbuildings and trees and shrubs.

For decades, the site, just north of Ustick Rd. saw houses on all sides. In recent years, developers added homes to formerly sparse large parcels in the area.

The subdivision application form Mooseland Estates calls for 11 single-family lots on the property. Access would come from an extension of Ginger Creek Drive in an adjoining subdivision, and homes would sit along the perimeter of the property, some of them backing up to Cloverdale. Lots would range from 6,048 square feet to 11,497 square feet.

“Overall, we strongly feel that this will be a quality development that will be harmonious with the surrounding area,” Dean Briggs with Briggs Engineering wrote in an application letter.

The City of Boise called a public hearing on the subdivision application for February 3, 2020 in front of the Planning & Zoning Commission at 6pm at Boise City Hall.
