In 1953, John Givens and Ken Davies launched an ad agency in Boise, Idaho. The founding turned out to spur a firm that continues 66 years later.
What started as Givens-Davies evolved several times over the years – through Davies & Rourke and, since 2019, as Davies-Moore.
Now partners Edward Moore and Carolyn Lodge will update the firm’s name again, becoming 116 & West: A Moore|Lodge Company.
“The impetus of rebranding the firm was to highlight the contributions of our long-time partner and COO, Carolyn Lodge,” company CEO Edward Moore said in a statement. “Additionally, we felt we could better position our agency as what it has grown into: an agency with regional and national clients throughout the western United States.”
The firm will formally launch the “116” brand on 1/16 – which also happens to be the tenth anniversary of Lodge’s elevation to partner. The day-long event will start at 9am with a pop-up coffee stand, giving out free coffee to 150 folks in front of the agency’s headquarters at 8th & Idaho.
“We’ve been a part of the Boise community for 20 years and know it can set an example for the rest of the world,” Lodge said. “So, we thought we’d invite the people of Boise to bring more kindness into the New Year.”
The firm will do that with 116 acts of kindness throughout the year, including its annual pro-bono marketing partnership with a local non-profit. It will announce the recipient later this week.
The company said the rebrand both acknowledges Lodge’s role in the firm and denotes the agency’s location on the 116th line of longitude.
