New micro-market opens on Greenbelt near Whitewater Park

Just a skipping stone’s throw from the Boise Whitewater Park, a new micro-market welcomes customers along the Boise River Greenbelt. In fact, it gets its name from the signature path.

Greenbelt Market opened in recent weeks in Garden City, right on the Greenbelt pathway. It also serves as the office and HQ for Greenbelt Magazine.

Tia Crabtree, who owns Idaho Media Corp., was looking for an office space for her company when the riverfront space in a condo building became available.

“The stars all aligned, and we were like, ‘voila!’,” she said. “We were just going to be an office, and I felt like we needed to do more for the community.”

With office space on the mezzanine, the ground floor space offers a micro-market with sundries, cold beverages, sandwiches, and wraps.

“We’ve been working with local suppliers and bringing things in like Idaho Kombucha, Bucksnort Soda, Simple Bites, and Proud Source Water,” Crabtree said. “We also have themed merchandise to represent the greenbelt.”

Stickers, water bottles, and issues of the Greenbelt Magazine will also be available. A patio in front of Greenbelt Marketplace faces the popular pathway, Boise River and Esther Simplot Park beyond.

Crabtree said reception to the new market has been strong, with a big opening day and continued support from folks along the Greenbelt. It joins a bustling corridor with businesses like Push and Pour, Telaya Winery, Caffe Luciano’s, and the Yardarm.
