WASHINGTON D.C. — Madison Bindl, MV graduate, was one of the 70 Wyoming students who received the Congressional Gold Medal Award, Congress’ most prestigious honor for youth this year.
Bindl was the only honoree this year from Uinta County. The awards ceremony was held June 19-21, in Washington D.C. The awards program is geared for ages 14-23.
Bindl was the 2019 salutatorian for MVHS. During the graduation ceremony she related the path the class had taken from freshmen, moving to sophomores, the busy life as juniors and to that of seniors. She told her class, “Congratulations, we did it.”
Of those 70 Wyoming graduates who received the award this year, 44 traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Congressional Award Gold Medal Ceremony held at the U.S. Capitol Visitor’s Center Congressional Auditorium on June 20. U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, Senator John Barrasso, M.D., and Representative Liz Cheney met with and gave Gold Medals to students at the special recognition event.
