Fantasy expert Matthew Berry hates both Bucs running backs in Week 6

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have probably caused more than a few headaches for fans this season, but fantasy football owners are likely just as frustrated.

Tight end O.J. Howard has been virtually a non-factor all season long, and aside from wide receiver Chris Godwin, getting consistently strong performances from players can be difficult to come by.

Last week, many experts liked quarterback Jameis Winston heading into Week 5’s game against the New Orleans Saints after the Bucs QB threw for four touchdowns and 385 yards against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4. While Winston had a decent stat line against New Orleans (204 yards and two touchdowns), he had 10 fewer fantasy points against the Saints than he did against the Rams.

Heading into Week 6’s game against the Carolina Panthers in London, one fantasy expert is not too high on the Bucs’ running backs.

ESPN fantasy football guru Matthew Berry had both Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones on his list of running backs he hates in Week 6.

Here’s Berry’s reasoning:

[In Week 2 against Carolina], Barber and Jones rushed 27 times for 91 yards (3.37 YPC). And despite the Bucs’ running backs getting 27 carries that week (tied for fourth-most), they ranked only 19th in RB fantasy points (18.7). The Buccaneers’ offensive line is banged up, and when you look at the snap shares from last weekend’s game against the Saints (Barber 34.5%, Jones 34.5%, Dare Ogunbowale 30.9%), you know this committee isn’t going away anytime soon. One of these guys could have a good game against Carolina’s 20th-ranked run defense, but I have no confidence in which one it’ll be.

The Bucs’ running back by committee seems to be how they’ll approach the rushing game for the foreseeable future. It’s hard to say whether Barber or Jones deserves the starting gig, since both have shown promise in flashes this season.

But, let’s be honest, this Bucs offense is predicated on the pass, so I’d be more comfortable starting Winston (again) than I would be starting either of these running backs.
