The St Davids Peninsula now has its very own mobile phone app.

A mobile phone app to coordinate local information on social media, funded by Arwain Sir Benfro has been launched.

Doug, from the St Davids Peninsula Tourist Association said: “We are so pleased to be able to announce that the St Davids Peninsula now has its very own mobile phone app. Downloaded from either the Apple App Store or Google Play (search for ‘St Davids Peninsula') the app is designed to be both an information source about the Peninsula as well as offering chattering via Twitter.

“Earlier on last year, the St Davids Peninsula Tourist Association secured £14,900 of LEADER funding from Arwain Sir Benfro for the development and implementation of a state of the art app. The idea is to give people a new way to communicate by way of tweeting. Politicians are doing this now all the time and many local businesses are staring to tweet. This can be of use for both local people and people visiting the area.”

The app has been developed by three local businesses in the county, Jason Hirst Ltd, Guy Morris and Web Adept Ltd. Feedback is still very welcome to further improve the app.

Once the app has been downloaded, users are asked to select what topics are of interest to them. Then when key words related to the topic appear in a tweet, the tweet is sent to your phone.

To see it in action or get more support, there is a launch event on Friday 28th June from 2pm until 6pm in the Memorial Hall in St Davids. All are welcome to drop by and find out more. There is also the opportunity to sign up for a 2 hour twitter course to be held on Friday 5th July.

Buddig Meredith, Arwain Sir Benfro Project Officer said: “LEADER funding is supporting all kinds of activity: mentoring, training, feasibility studies or pilot projects that test an innovative new idea. This is just one example of the great projects being delivered in the county.”
