The Miami baseball team alternated wins and losses in four games this week to finish 2-2 against Florida Gulf Coast and Louisville. The Hurricanes defeated the Eagles 13-4 in Coral Gables Tuesday night and lost two out of three at Louisville this weekend.

The Miami baseball team’s offense continues to pound Florida Gulf Coast’s pitching on Tuesday night. In a three-game sweep of the season series that began April 9 in Coral Gables, the Hurricanes scored 36 runs off of the Eagles pitching staff. The Miami offense has been the biggest reason in their turnaround this season.

The Hurricanes are now 27-14 overall and 11-10 in the ACC after the losses to the Cardinals this weekend. The losses to Louisville dropped Miami two games behind Georgia Tech and North Carolina in the ACC Coastal Division. The Atlantic and Coastal Division winners automatically get the top two seeds in the ACC Tournament.

Miami took two of three against Georgia Tech this year but lost two of three to North Carolina. The Hurricanes host Florida International on Tuesday night and Virginia Tech next weekend. That is the first half of an eight-game Miami homestand. The Hurricanes are not on the road again until May 10-12 at Wake Forest.

Big innings were the story of the week for the Miami baseball team. Miami had an eight-run sixth inning against Florida Gulf Coast in Tuesday’s win. They added three separate innings with at least six runs in the final two games at Louisville. Unfortunately one of those came in a loss in Saturday’s final game of the series.

The Hurricanes exploded for 22 runs in a six-inning span between games two and three of the series against Louisville. The Cardinals chipped away scoring eight runs between the fourth and eighth innings for the 9-6 series-clinching win on Saturday afternoon. That was part of a semi doubleheader Saturday.
