Carson City man arrested on felony warrant after deputies called to domestic battery
A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 900 block of Woodside on a felony warrant out of Carson City Justice Court.
According to the report, Juan Gutierrez was arrested after deputies responded to a residence on Woodside on a report of a domestic battery after someone called dispatch stating they could hear a woman screaming.
Dispatch advised that in a prior call for service at the same location, a male identified as Juan Gutierrez had run from law enforcement and he also had an active felony arrest warrant.
Deputies arrived on scene and could hear loud banging coming from an upstairs apartment.
Deputies knocked on the door and heard a male voice say “who is it.” Deputies announced it was the Sheriff’s office.
Deputies said they could hear a slider door open and the man said “hang on.” The door to the apartment opened and deputies observed Gutierrez standing in the entry way with scratches on his neck and fresh blood on his left ear lobe.
A small child was seen standing behind him.
Gutierrez told deputies that he and his girlfriend were just yelling at each other and that she was on the patio.
Deputies checked Gutierrez for weapons and advised him he was being detained on the warrant. When he was placed in handcuffs he told deputies he also had a warrant in Douglas County and that they could not arrest him for it.
However, when the Carson City warrant issued on May 4 was confirmed, Gutierrez then became verbally uncooperative and began yelling and screaming and attempted to pull away from deputies.
He was secured in a patrol vehicle.
Deputies attempted to get a statement from the woman, but she and the child left the apartment before deputies could obtain a statement.
