Carson City arrests: Woman jailed after allegedly stabbing, slashing boyfriend with scissors

A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic battery after she allegedly stabbed and slashed her boyfriend with a pair of scissors, a sheriff's deputy report states.

Carolina Cruz was taken into custody at 2:09 a.m. According to the arrest report, deputies arrived and met with the victim, who was bleeding from cuts to his stomach and face and had a laceration in the middle of his back and was actively bleeding. He was taken to the emergency room.

Deputies met with the suspect, who stated she and her boyfriend had been drinking and got into an argument because she said he made unwanted sexual advances to her and a female friend. The female suspect she was hit in the nose twice by her boyfriend, causing it to bleed. She said she was knocked to the ground as well, causing her to bump her head.

Deputies observed dried blood from the woman's nostrils as well as a swollen knot on the right side of her head, the arrest report states.

She denied stabbing the victim with scissors and said she blacked out. A third person at the residence stated the two were arguing and told deputies that they wanted to speak with an attorney before being asked any more questions, the arrest report states.

A deputy located a pair of scissors with the blades bloody on a microwave in the kitchen.

A Carson City detective interviewed the victim at the hospital who said the two got into an argument following a surprise birthday party he had thrown for her. He stated the two later began arguing and that he left the house to avoid a physical altercation, returned later and laid down on the couch thinking his girlfriend was sleeping in another room.

He said she came out from the bedroom, punched him in the face, giving him a bloody nose. He stated blood from his nose fell on the woman's face. The victim stated the woman grabbed a pair of scissors and began attacking him.

The woman was arrested for suspicion of the crimes and was informed of the charges she faced. The woman stated "even if he punched me first?" She was taken to jail and booked for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic battery. Bail: $33,137.

In other arrests:
— Three were arrested Saturday afternoon by the Carson City Sheriff'S Office Special Enforcement Team in the 1500 block of North Carson Street for drug and other charges.

Cody Rhodes, 30, Rosalva Plascencia, 49, and James Martin, 56, each face a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, SET officers were called to a motel in the 1700 block of north Carson Street regarding an investigation into drug dealing and allowing wanted persons to hide from law enforcement.

Officers went to a room, spoke with the subjects, including Placentia who was on probation and recently released from jail. She is on supervision with the Nevada Department of Parole and probation and the clause conditions for her probation is not to use of drugs, alcohol or associate with convicted felons.

Deputies obtained a search warrant through a Carson City judge, which allowed a search of the motel room. Deputies seized a meth pipe, "tooter straw" commonly used for inhaling narcotics, digital scales, small baggies for packaging drugs, and two samples of suspected methamphetamine found in the room.

Plascencia was placed on a no-bail hold due to violation of conditions, plus the drug charges. Bail for Martin: $3,637. Bail for Rhodes, who also was arrested for suspicion of violation of probation: $6,637.

— A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday in the 1400 block of Rand Avenue for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery.

According to the booking report, deputies were called to a motel in reference to a 911 hang up. Deputies arrived and made contact with a male subject, who was questioned and admitted to hitting the victim, saying he was angry that the victim was always getting into people's heads, the arrest report said. Bail: $3,137.
