Carson City sheriff's crime log: Deputies make multiple battery, DUI arrests early Saturday
A 27 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning for misdemeanor suspicion of first-offense domestic battery, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy responded to the 200 block of Fleischmann Way on a domestic disturbance call. Upon arrival, the officer hear a male screaming loud and angry from inside of an apartment.
The deputy knocked on the door and ordered its occupants to come out. A male opened the door with a toddler in his arms before handing the child to the mother.
The male suspect was detained at that point and asked by the deputy what the screaming was about.
The suspect stated in the report that he and the child's mother were just having an argument, they were both upset, but it never turned physical.
While the suspect was speaking, the deputy smelled alcohol coming from him and his speech was observed to be slurred, the report said.
The suspect stated without prompting that he only sounded intoxicated because he was emotional. The officer hadn't brought up his observations yet.
When queried by the deputy, the woman involved stated the suspect had come home late and drunk. He became upset when she questioned him and tried to hold the child.
But the woman reported that she wouldn't let him because of his intoxication, so he reportedly punched her on the right side of her face with a closed fist and also slapped her. The deputy observed the woman's right cheek to be swollen, the report said.
Upon being Mirandized, the suspect agreed to speak further with the deputy, at first not denying the battery and then stating he had only pushed her away.
The suspect stated he did not remember hitting the victim, the report said, but if he had, he was sorry. The suspect was handcuffed, taken into custody at 5:46 a.m. and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $3,137.

The victim reported to Carson City Dispatch that his girlfriend had hit him multiple times in the head, and he had since locked himself in the bathroom.
A female could be heard screaming in the background during the phone call, the report said.
Deputies met with the victim and suspect upon arrival. The female suspect, in her underwear wearing no pants, was yelling while the officer tried to speak with the victim.
The parties were separated and a deputy interviewed the suspect, who stated the victim, her boyfriend, had accused her of cheating on him. She then proceeded to yell at him to leave her apartment, the report said.
When the victim refused to leave, the suspect stated she became more upset. She did not elaborate on whether the argument became physical, the report said, only stating that there was a "rumbling."
The suspect continued to yell and stomp around the apartment during questioning, prompting the officer to direct her to sit down and calm down.

Contact was made with the passenger and driver, the latter of whom exhibited thick, slurred speech and displayed red, watery eyes.
The driver also smelled of alcohol, the report said, but he denied consuming any alcohol.
He consented to standard field sobriety tests (SFSTs), which showed signs of impairment, as well as a preliminary breath test (PBT) that yielded breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .178 percent.
The driver was handcuffed and taken into custody at that point. Once at the Carson City Jail, a criminal history check showed the suspect was an ex-felon convicted of murder and sodomy with a person under the age of 18, the report said.
Records further showed the suspect was not currently registered as an ex-felon or sex offender with the Carson City Sheriff's Office. His record showed three additional arrests for DUI outside of the past seven years, two counts of burglary, grand theft auto, possession of dangerous weapons, and assault with a deadly weapon.
